Within in the last few years we have added certain certifications and bank specific courses to our educational assistance policy and continue to do so mainly for our Technology teams. Of course, they must be job related. Happy to chat about specifics.
Our policy only includes certifications and external courses. Certifications have to be job related. Our client services/operations team have done CAPM/PMP certifications, our HR team have done SHRM-CP and DiSC certifications. We did work in some wording that you need to complete your certification within a year of taking the course and you need to stay at the company for a certain amount of time following completion (depending on the investment.)
We are considering the expansion of our traditional tuition reimbursement policy to go beyond the usual "courses towards a degree". Would love to hear what other organizations are doing to include external training resources such as certificate programs, certification exams, external courses, etc.! If you have sample policies that you would be open to sharing or interested in hopping on a call, it would be greatly appreciated!
