Staying the Course…
Let’s Keep Focusing on Skills!

CHRISTINA CALDERWOOD | Project Manager & Instructional Designer, INNOVATIVE LEARNING GROUP

Companies today have a renewed focus on skills as the basis for hiring and learning, and Innovative Learning Group Project Manager and Instructional Designer, Christina Calderwood, couldn’t be happier!

Throughout her career as a learning and performance improvement professional, Christina has always been focused on skills… and so have the majority of other experts in the field! Some of the basis for our work came from behavioral science researcher B.F. Skinner and the training done by the U.S. military during WWII. The well-known ADDIE model for instructional systems design goes back to the mid-70s. And more recently Dr. Robert O. Brinkerhoff introduced impact mapping to describe the line of sight from business goals to specific skills and knowledge needed to achieve them.

Join Christina as she reviews a tried-and-true skills-based approach you can use to reskill and upskill your employees to help them reach their full potential using the latest learning technology and training options.

You’ll be able to:

  • Take a position about the current hype around skills
  • Describe with clarity what we even mean when we say focus on skills
  • Draft some learning objectives to guide your reskilling and upskilling of your team
  • Put together some simple learning journeys for your employees to follow
