ADRIANNA BORIS | Learning Management Analyst, TAFT STETTINIUS & HOLLISTER LLP ANTHONY SETA | Instructor, TANGO DEL BARRIO Do you second-guess yourself? Struggle to stay mentally present on busy days? Long for more human connection in the age of Zoom and agentic AI? Step outside your comfort zone and into the world of Argentine tango, the social dance and musical sub-culture from Buenos Aires that can help you feel more grounded, even as you’re dancing on air! In this hands-on interdisciplinary session, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of Argentine tango as we explore the impact that the practice of its ethos can have in our professional and personal lives. Drawing on the rich culture of tango dance, music, and poetry, and on the works of bel hooks, Brené Brown, and others, we will demonstrate and discuss the tango principles that can transform our approach to life. Note: When we say the session is “hands-on,” we mean it. Attendees will be asked to pair off and dance tango together in an open embrace, rotating partners throughout the session. If you come to the session with an open mind and embrace the vulnerability of a novel experience shared with strangers, you will leave with: 1. A renewed sense of confidence in your own instincts; 2. An invitation to trust and embrace vulnerability in relationship to others, without making yourself vulnerable; 3. Grounding exercises to feel more physically, mentally, and emotionally present; 4. A reminder of the feelings of accomplishment and joy that come with practicing a discipline; 5. Strategies to incorporate interdisciplinary thinking and creativity into your life and work. |
